Uninsured Employer Act
On June 6, 2017, Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper signed legislation (H.B. 1119) creating the Colorado Uninsured Employer Fund. The fund provides a mechanism for the payment of covered claims to workers injured while employed by employers who have failed to obtain and maintain the required workers’ compensation insurance, and to avoid excessive delay in payment and financial loss to injured workers. The legislation also updates current workers’ compensation law.
The law is effective July 1, 2017.
