Student and School Personnel Religious Liberties Act
On June 9, 2017, Florida Governor Rick Scott signed legislation (S.B. 436) prohibiting a school district from discriminating against students, parents, or school personnel on the basis of religious viewpoints or expression. The law also prohibits penalty or reward for a student’s religious expression in coursework, artwork, or other specified assignments.
The law is effective July 1, 2017.
